Crossing the Benelux region by rail

The alliance of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are within easy reach of the UK, with Eurostar taking travellers directly to Brussels for onward connections.

Belgium is of course famous for it's beer and chocolates, waffles and mussels. It's cities are full of examples of impressive architecture, and cities such as Bruges, Ghent and Brussels are steadily increasing in popularity as short break destinations.

The Netherlands, famed for it's flat landscape, windmills and clogs, is a haven for cycling, trips on the canals, and beaches. Amsterdam is one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe, crammed with museums and historical attractions, not to mention the infamous red light district!

Luxembourg, at just under 1000 square miles, is around a tenth of the size of the UK. It has the highest percentage of foreigners of any EU country, and consequently, has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. It's landscape consists of green farmland and forests, and there are a number of interesting historical sites worth visiting.
