An open ticket is valid for travel on your chosen route, on any date within a one month period from the ticket start date. It doesn’t guarantee you a seat on a particular train.
When you buy an tickets on this website, you may be offered an open ticket, either on its own or with a seat reservation, for all or part of your journey.
If you have been offered a seat reservation, it will only be valid on the train and date you choose when you book, so if you decide to change your travel plans you’ll need to buy a new one before you go.
Seat reservations aren’t compulsory on all trains so the option won’t always be available. In some cases you will need a seat reservation but will only be able to buy it locally at the station before you go.
If you are not offered a seat reservation when you buy your open ticket it’s best to double-check whether you need one at the station before you board.
