So you like the idea of travelling around Europe on an InterRail Pass. But what choices of pass are there? And could point-to-point tickets be a better option? Read on to find out more…
If you plan on doing a lot of travelling and want the flexibility to really explore – chances are an InterRail Pass is right for you.
With a pass, you won’t be tied down to a rigid itinerary. If you like a town or city, you can stay a little longer or even explore the region. Then when you’ve seen all you want to see, just pack your bag and set off on the next leg of your adventure.
If you’re on a budget and aren’t sure whether a pass or point-to-point tickets will be better value, you’ll need to do a little research. You can use our rail tickets search form at the top right hand side of this page to find out how much each ticket would cost. Compare the grand total of the most flexible ticket with the cost of the passes on offer.
But remember that passes also include discounts on travel and attractions within countries. And that pass holders, like ticket holders, also need to make reservations for travel on some high speed and overnight trains.
InterRail Global Passes are valid for travel in up to 30 European countries. There are two InterRail Global Pass types to choose from: ‘flexi passes’ and ‘continuous passes’
- A flexi pass entitles you to unlimited travel on a fixed number of days during your trip
- A continuous pass entitles you to unlimited travel every day of your trip.
With a One Country Pass your train travel is covered in your European country of choice. You can choose from unlimited travel on 3, 4, 6 or 8 days of your choice during a month.
