InterRailing is definately one of the 'must do's' of travel. Although still dominated by the under 26 age group, as more people are taking time out of their careers, it's becoming increasingly popular with all ages.
Unlike flying, the experience of taking the train adds to the overall experience - travelling through emerging Eastern European countries, on overnight trains and at high-speed all add to the sense of adventure for InterRailers. With 30 countries in the InterRail community, there is plenty to discover.
The 30 InterRail countries can be explored with two types of pass available:
Customers can choose whether they want to go visit numerous countries or explore more thoroughly one country.
InterRail prices are fixed, regardless of when the customer wants to travel. However, some seats will need to be reserved at a small charge, particularly for overnight services or popular, peak trains.
Prices differ for adults, youths (12 - 25 yrs) and children (under 12 yrs)
Some trains are run by separate companies, span several countries and are not included in the InterRail pass. Customers with an InterRail pass are often able to get discounted fares on these services, such as Eurostar.
Discounts can also be claimed on youth hostels, some other transport companies and museums.
