Eurostar Direct SkiGet the most time on the slopes and enjoy a hassle-free journey that's greener than going by air. Many overnight trains take you right to the heart of your ski resort, delivering you to the slopes as the lifts open - with no irksome waits at check-in or airport transfers eating into your snow-time. There's ample luggage room, a choice of accommodation to suit any budget and a good selection of departure and arrival times to choose from. Of course, you can also enjoy great views all the way there.

The most convenient way to head to the slopes

The Eurostar Direct Ski service really is direct. Board the train in the UK and take either a Friday night overnight train or a Saturday daytime option, running directly from London or Ashford to Moûtiers, Aime la Plagne and Bourg St Maurice. Fares are from £149 return per person.

More trains, more destinations – and more time to ski

Eurostar plus SNCF services run throughout the year to ski destinations, but an enhanced service runs throughout the winter months, with increased day services and direct overnight trains running throughout the week to destinations including Chambéry, St Gervais les Bains and Bourg St Maurice from where easy connections can be made into numerous ski resorts. Passengers travel on Eurostar to Paris then transfer for a day train or an overnight train to the Alps. Return fares per person are from £109 by day or £136 overnight from London to Bourg St Maurice.

Easy connections to Europe’s most iconic resorts

Easy rail connections to the French and Swiss Alps give you access to ultra chic resorts, some of the best powder in Europe and great value family skiing. Eurostar connects with trains taking you to: Annecy, Briançon, Bourg St Maurice, Chamonix, Val d'Isère, Morzine, Grenoble, Serre Chevalier, St Moritz, Klösters and more.

The Pyrenees are renowned for fabulous snow and outstanding après-ski. Eurostar connects with trains that take you to: Lourdes, Barèges, Les Angles, St Lary, Pas de la Casa and Soldeu. Connections to Italy and Austria are easily within ski train range (travel overnight to maximise your time on the slopes), and you can get to resorts such as Bardonecchia and St Anton.

Three great reasons to go by rail:

1. It's totally flexible - You choose when you travel, and there's no time wasted when you travel overnight to your destination.

2. It's green - Compared to many forms of transport, travelling to the slopes by train leaves a greatly reduced carbon footprint.

3. It's good value - there are no costly airport transfers or hidden extras, such as additional charges for taking skis or snowboard.

Re: Skiing by train with Rail Europe

Are there any plans to reinstate the Snow Train ever? I miss the disco carriage!

Re: Skiing by train with Rail Europe

We were really sad to see the Snow Train go. At the moment there are no plans to reinstate this service as the operating costs make it too expensive to run. The uncertainty of the economy has meant that as much as we'd like to, we just can't bring this service back. We will continue to review this, in case an opportunity arises in the future.

Re: Skiing by train with Rail Europe

Are there any trains which offer an overnight couchette service to Bourg St Maurice?
Thanx

Re: Skiing by train with Rail Europe

Hi Christopher - yes, there is an overnight service from Paris to Bourg St Maurice. It runs every night during the winter season, and departs from Gare Austerlitz in Paris at just after 11pm. There are 4 and 6-berth couchettes on board and also reclining seats. You can check current availability and fares by searching Paris to Bourg St Maurice on the booking forms on this site.
