Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Rob, these promotional fares are available for travel dates between 25th May and 30th June. If you enter the route and a date within this range into the booking form, these fares will be returned where available. However, please be aware that they are a limited availability fare and so can sell out quickly.

The date links don't appear to be working - greyed-out and you cannot choose a date

Hi J, sorry you're having trouble - we're working on correcting this. If you're looking for one of the promotional fares, click the "Book Now" button within the blog next to the route you want.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Just another promotional con IMHO. Yes there are £32.50 tickets to be found but at times you cannot connect with without paying for a hotel for the night e.g. leave Paris CDG at 7:40 for Montpelier but no Eurostar to connect with it that day so you need to travel out to Paris the day before.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi MikeC, I am sorry that the departure times you've found have not been suitable for you. Unfortunately, the promotion and the fare availability are controlled directly by the carrier. As such, for this particular promotion, SNCF made the promotional fares available on the TGV Brussels-Provinces services only (the direct train that originates from Brussels and terminates in the South of France).

These routes have limited services operating each day - between 2 to 5 trains a day depending on the route. We've highlighted the journeys from Lille and Paris CDG as these are possibly the most convenient stations for UK customers to reach, either via Eurostar to Lille or a flight to Paris. As the fares are available via thousands of outlets across Europe, this does mean that promotional fares can sell out extremely quickly on popular services that may have more suitable connections with Eurostar services.

I'm sorry if you are disappointed, but would like to reassure you that fares were checked and found to be available before this blog was posted.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi John, we can't book UK domestic services, so you'd need to book Gloucester to London independently. We can assist with the London to Dax leg. The most direct route would be via Paris. If you enter London to Dax on the booking form, with your dates of travel, you should get fare and schedule information returned. Travelling via Lille would require an additional change in either Paris or Bordeaux.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Rob - Thello services are currently closed for sale on 1 September due to engineering works. We don't know whether the service will become available closer to the date of travel, as it is up to the track maintenance company to advise the train operators. There is a day service between Paris and Milan, from where you can take an onward service to Venice. You can find more information here - www.raileurope.co.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=3292.
You can book services via this website, by calling 0844 848 5 848 or by calling into our Travel Centre at 193 Piccadilly, London.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Liz - Sorry if you were unable to find the advertised fare. We checked before the promotion went live and there were fares available to each of the featured destinations. However, they are limited in availability and as the offer was running across Europe, it is possible that the offer fares to Aix were sold out by the time you searched. Sorry if you were disappointed this time.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Don't know why you can't book more than 3 months in advance. If you haven't got your timetables sorted by then, it ain't gonna happen. I'm afraid to say that from a UK perspective it's just cheaper and quicker to fly.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Geoff - Unfortunately, the advance booking period is out of our hands as it is set by the train operators. Eurostar allow bookings 4 months in advance, while most other European operators (including those in the UK) have a 3 month advance window. It's not something we are able to change I'm afraid.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Laurent - If you were initially on the TGV Europe website, it offers you the chance to redirect to our site if you are booking from the UK. If you would rather book direct with them, you can check the box to continue on that site, and pay for your ticket in Euros.

Re: Save up to 70% on fares to the South of France

Hi Susan - sorry to hear you weren't able to find the advertised fares. Do you know who sent the email? All our pricing is in £sterling, rather than in Euros, so I don't think it would have come from Rail Europe UK. Unfortunately, special offers are usually available across all of Europe and the offer fares are limited in availability, so it really is a case of first come first served.
