Luxembourg Gare is a half-hour walk from the centre of the city. But don’t worry if you’ve got lots of luggage, because local buses and taxis can take you there too.
Gare de Luxembourg, 11 place de la Gare L-1616 Luxembourg
Opening hours:
04:00 - 23:50 Daily
The station isn’t too far from most of Luxembourg’s major attractions if you feel like getting some air.
Several buses run north from the station.
Taxis pick up passengers at a rank outside the station. They are metered and a 10% tip is considered standard.
The original Luxembourg Gare building opened in 1859 and was made entirely from wood. In the early 20th century it was replaced by an iron building designed by three German architects.
The station features a large clock tower, which can be seen throughout the city. It sits at the end of Avenue de la Liberté, one of the main streets in Luxembourg. Recently, it has been renovated to feature wider platforms and a passenger subway. More work is planned with a projected finish-date of 2012.
