The gorgeous town of Lugano lies in southern Switzerland towards the Italian border. To get there, the best idea is to catch a high speed TGV Lyria train from Paris to Zurich. And then a regional service direct to Lugano train station in the heart of the town.

With its warm Mediterranean climate, large natural lake and stunning Alpine setting – Lugano is a good option for a summer break. If you love the great outdoors, you can take a hike or ride your mountain bike around Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore. Or why not catch the funicular railway to the top for memorable views of the region? The Belvedere Park walkway with its open air bars and cafes is ideal for a stroll. But if you’re feeling energetic you can take a boat ride or even waterski. Plus there are some interesting buildings to see in the town like the Church of Santa Maria degli Angioli with its splendid Renaissance frescoes.
